Walter and Trudy Moore celebrated their 60th anniversary on Aug. 22. Walter and Trudy (Bayer) were married in 1950 in Glens Falls, N.Y. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Trudy Bayer is a survivor of the Holocaust in Hitler’s Germany and was forced to leave with her parents in 1940 after World War II had begun. She graduated from Glens Falls High School and Cortland State Teachers College and taught physical education in Pulaski, Scotia and many other schools.
Walt is a Cazenovia native. He taught and coached at Hamilton High School and retired from the Pupil Benefits Plan, an athletic insurance company, as their C.E.O.
The Moores have lived in Cazenovia for many years where they have grown apples and run a bed and breakfast. They are members of St. James Parish. They have six children — Dennis, Lynn, Barclay, Neale, Martha, and Stephen. There are also 11 grandchildren.
They will celebrate their anniversary in September, to coincide with the marriage of their oldest granddaughter in Saratoga, with a family reunion at the Gideon Putnam Hotel.
