In keeping with New York State’s pre-K Foundation for the Common Core, Rome Catholic School pre-K students took a field trip to Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo in Rome Oct. 30. There they learned about the similarities, differences and categories of animals as well as plants; saw the different habitats for different types of animals; were shown how different plants and animals adapt to changes in the environment and seasons; learned why plants and animals need food and water to live; and saw how baby animals have the same characteristics as their parents. Above, pre-K student Sawyer White learns about “kids” at Fort Rickey.
