St. Lucy’s Church in Syracuse held its annual Christmas Gift-Giving Day Dec. 14. The event gave clients of St. Lucy’s food pantry the opportunity to select new Christmas gifts for themselves and their family members. Event coordinator Marie Rothbaler said nearly 250 children and nearly 700 adults were registered this year.
Choosing from more than 2,000 new items — purchased with donated funds — clients selected one clothing item and one non-clothing item for each of their family members; knitted hats, gently-used books and packs of toiletries were also available. Clients were paired with personal shopper volunteers who helped to select and carry gifts.
