Holy Trinity youth group raising ‘dough’ for pilgrimage

Nineteen young people from the youth group at Holy Trinity Church in Utica will be making a pilgrimage to Rome, Italy Feb. 16-24, and they’re using a unique method to help raise funds for the trip: Each month, the group bakes and sells babka, a traditional Polish bread. At Christmas, the group produced nearly 800 loaves with the help of Spano’s Bakery in Utica.

The final babka sale before the pilgrims depart will be held at Holy Trinity Feb. 8 and 9. The group will also host a fundraiser breakfast Feb. 9. Those interested in placing a babka order can call the Holy Trinity rectory at (315) 724-7238 Mondays through Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
