Presentations on morality of drones to be held

   What is the moral basis for our foreign lethal drones? Bishop Richard E. Pates, chairman of the Committee on International Justice and Peace for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has posed this question.

   The Diocese of Syracuse Presbyteral (Priests) Council responds with presentations on the morality of
lethal drones in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia.

   Four presentations will be held in the diocese:
   • Feb. 5: St. Paul’s Church, 1807 Bedford St., Rome; 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
   • Feb. 12: Oswego State University Newman Center, 36 New St., Oswego;
8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
   • Feb. 19: St. James Church, McDevitt Room, 147 Main St., Johnson City;
7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
   • Feb. 26: All Saints Church, 1340 Lancaster Ave., Syracuse; 7 p.m. to
8:30 p.m.

   Two informed presenters, Eugene Blackburn and Ed Kinane, will give the case for and against the use of drones. Catholic teaching on war and violence will be presented by Father Fred Daley; Father Tim Taugher will present at the session in Johnson City.

   Presentations are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Paul Welch at
