‘A great honor for a great man’

To the editor:

It was great to read that Jim Evans was being recognized by the Catholic Schools Office. What a great honor for a great man.
Jim, or “Lawyer Evans” as the Sun staff used to call him, was a co-tenant of our old offices and we used to get his mail on a regular basis, which meant he visited our place quite a bit.
But it wasn’t until I called on him to help me with a personal situation that I really got to know him. In a few words — he is faith-filled, extraordinarily generous and extremely funny. When I asked for his professional help, he was there for me 24/7. He even showed up at St. Joseph’s Hospital when my son was there and that visit meant quite a lot to all of us.
Jim takes his faith seriously; I don’t think I’d be out of line in saying that he lives by it.
