Conversation event to mark book release

DEWITT — Rabbi Charles Sherman of Temple Adath Yeshurun in Syracuse and Msgr. J. Robert Yeazel of Holy Cross Church in DeWitt will hold a conversation event March 11 to mark the release of Rabbi Sherman’s critically acclaimed book The Broken and the Whole: Discovering Joy After Heartbreak.
In 1986, Rabbi Sherman’s four-year-old son, Eyal, took ill, and doctors discovered a lesion on the child’s brainstem. Subsequent surgery caused a massive stroke, and Rabbi Sherman learned that Eyal’s mind remained intact but he would never walk, talk, feed himself or breathe on his own again. In The Broken and the Whole, Rabbi Sherman reflects on his journey to find joy after heartbreak.
Rabbi Sherman and Msgr. Yeazel will talk frankly about the “big questions” in life during the enlightening, uplifting evening event, beginning at 7 p.m. on March 11 at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee St., DeWitt. The event is co-sponsored by InterFaith Works of Central New York.
