Sister Ann Louise Beerhalter, OP, of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, Ossining, N.Y., died at her home in the Ossining Center of Hope at Mariandale on February 27, 2014. She was 91 years of age.
Sister Ann Louise was born Feb. 21, 1923 in Munnsville, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Martin and Anna Zimmerhockel Beerhalter.
She entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor on Jan. 15, 1945, and made her first profession June 24, 1946. Her final profession was held June 24, 1949.
Sister Ann Louise earned an RN from Saint Catherine’s Hospital and a BS in Nursing from the University of Dayton. Her ministry of nursing with the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor took her to a number of cities throughout the U.S. In 1978, Sister Ann Louise retired from her nursing ministry and volunteered her services as Eucharistic minister at St. Augustine’s Church in Ossining and as sacristan for the Dominican Sisters Chapel in Ossining.
Sister Ann Louise is survived by her brother, Martin Beerhalter. She is predeceased by her sisters Margaret Barton, Rose Marie McNamara, Anna Beerhalter and her brother William Beerhalter. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The Dominican Sisters of Hope celebrated the life of Sister Ann Louise Beerhalter, OP, with a Mass of Christian Burial on March 7, 2014 in the chapel of the Center of Hope in Ossining, N.Y.
