The RSSP grant will be administered through the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA). Catholic Charities will provide assistance to adult refugees and other eligible persons and their families in achieving economic and social self-sufficiency as soon as possible after their arrival in the United States. The RSSP will provide funding for job preparation, job placement, and employment services, along with transitional supports such as language instruction.
“The RSSP grant will allow us to serve approximately 400 refugees per year for five years,” said Michael F. Melara, executive director. “Employment leads to self-sufficiency, and that’s where we’ll be concentrating our efforts.”
