People and razors were buzzing March 30 as hundreds of “shavees” filled Kitty Hoynes Irish Pub and Restaurant in downtown Syracuse for its annual St. Baldrick’s Day event. During the event, which benefits the St. Baldrick’s Foundation charity, “shavees” had their heads shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research. This was the tenth year that Kitty Hoynes hosted the event and, at press time, more than $460,000 had been raised.
Several teams from area Catholic schools participated, including students and families from Holy Cross School in DeWitt and Bishop Ludden Jr./Sr. High School in Syracuse. Here, some shots of the shearing.
