Parish cooking competition held

The Taste of Holy Family cooking competition was held recently. More than 50 chefs and bakers representing three generations were present at the parish event that included raffles and a silent auction. Local merchants donated raffle prizes. Nick Cantello provided entertainment on piano.
Silent auction winners took home Disney tickets, an Adirondack Getaway, Syracuse University football tickets, a Keurig coffeemaker, and gift certificates from local restaurants, fast food chains and grocery stores. Father Richard Prior, pastor of Holy Family, took the most votes for his side dish, Crazy Drunken Shrimp. Dan Downes, youth minister, took the appetizer prize for his Bacon Wraps. The main dish winner was Mary Fangio for her Cheesy Chicken Casserole and Heather Dristle won the dessert category with Almond Bear Paws. Proceeds from the event will go to the youth of LifeTeen. The event raised enough money to send 80 students to the annual Steubenville Youth Conference this summer.
