9/11 remembered

Holy Cross Academy, Oneida, students and Boy Scouts Brendan Stoker, Nick Stoker and Emmanuel Esparza, together with Civil Air Patrol Cadet Aaron Dostie, raised the flag to half-staff during the school’s prayer service in honor of the anniversary of 9/11.

Students at St. Patrick’s School, Oneida, held an outdoor prayer service to remember those lost on 9/11. The students said a prayer while saluting to the flag, recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang “The Star Spangled Banner.”

Rome Catholic School honored and remembered the victims of 9/11 during their morning prayer service led by Principal Patricia Bliss. The students and staff wore their patriotic red, white and blue colors and listened to Ms. Bliss recite the prayer of St. Francis for those who lost their lives and for their families. Afterward, second grade teacher Ms. Balfe took her class to the memorial set up in the RCS hallway which displayed the names of all the victims of 9/11 and explained the significance. Her students, not even being born before that day, asked the same question we still ask today: Why?
