Celebrating 100 years!

Msgr. Francis Culkin turned 100 years old Sept. 18, an event marked with a special Mass at St. Peter’s Church in Rome on Sept. 21.

Msgr. Culkin also celebrated 70 years of priesthood in June. Over more than four decades, he served as parochial vicar of St. John the Baptist in Rome and St. John the Baptist in Syracuse, and as pastor of Immaculate Conception in Greene, St. Patrick’s in Jordan and St. Peter’s in Rome, retiring in 1990 after 19 years there. He has also served at St. Joseph’s in Lee Center and was episcopal vicar of Northwestern Madison and Western Oneida Counties. He was named an Honorary Prelate by Pope Paul VI in 1973. Msgr. Culkin currently resides at St. Mary’s in Rome and continues to serve the parish of St. Mary-St. Peter.

Happy birthday and ad multos annos, Msgr. Culkin!
