Honor Society student brings smiles to sick kids

Jackie Neverette, 17, a senior at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School and a member of St. Helena’s Parish, has been busy collecting brand new toys and gift cards for young patients at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. The

collection is part of a service project Neverette is doing as a member of the National Honor Society. Neverette is planning to become a nurse practioner and work with children after college and wanted her service project to connect to her plans for the future. Since she began the collection a few weeks ago, Neverette has been amazed at the outpouring of generosity and support from her local community.

Neverette, pictured above with donations, will continue to collect new toys, books, gift cards, board games and bath products until Dec. 12. Those interested in donating can either contact Neverette at jnevs323@gmail.com or drop gifts off at 821 West Hamilton Ave., Sherrill.
