You’re invited to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation today

Churches throughout the Diocese of Syracuse will open their doors from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today to offer Catholics an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

For those who might need a refresher on confession or a reminder on how wonderful the experience can be, here are some resources from the Sun:

How to go to confession: A step-by-step guide from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Rediscovering the ‘gift of forgiveness’: Here, with the help of Father Gregory Kreinheder, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church and St. Stephen the King Church in Oswego, the Sun explores this sacrament of healing and peace. (We wrote this for Lent of 2013, but it still applies!)

Be not afraid… of confession: Another oldie but goodie from Lent 2013, here we explore how the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Penance — also known as confession — is an essential part of the Catholic faith and a practice good for the soul.

And if you really, really need some encouragement, here’s an invitation from Father Jason Hage.

Additional resources for parishes and individuals can be found on the diocese’s website at syracusediocese.org/about-the-diocese/the-light-is-on-for-you-campaign.
