BINGHAMTON — Lourdes Diabetes Center, in association with the Diabetes Association of the Southern Tier and the Wendy Lee Klenotiz Scholarship Fund, is offering scholarships to children 9 – 16 years old who have diabetes and live in the Southern Tier. The scholarship will be for campers to attend Camp Nejeda Diabetes Camp in Stillwater, N.J.
Camp seesions will run July 5-July 17, 2015 for ages 12-15; July 19-July 31, 2015 for ages 8-12; Aug. 2-Aug. 14, 2015 for ages 13-16.
The scholarship covers the entire camp fee but not transportation to/from the camp. The sleep-away camp also requires that a parent or guardian accompany the camper the first day of camp and pick up the camper the last day of camp.
To be considered for the scholarship, a child must complete an application form and write an essay between 100 – 300 words telling why he or she would like to attend Camp Nejeda, and how attending the camp would be beneficial, what he or she expects to learn at camp and how the child’s entire family plans to use this experience in the community.
