Michael and Mary Anne Tremblay of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Endicott went to Rome, Italy, to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. They had arranged to take part in a Marian Pilgrimage that was scheduled for that weekend. On Oct. 5, while they were waiting in Charles de Gaulle Airport outside Paris, Michael received an email from the Vatican saying they had been selected to greet Pope Francis on Saturday, Oct. 8, after the special Marian rosary and celebration that was taking place as part of the Marian Pilgrimage. “Of course we said yes!” the Tremblays said in an email. They were two of 50 pilgrims selected from the thousands from around the world. After the rosary and a speech by Pope Francis, the lucky 50 lined up and met the pope. “We each received a rosary as well, white for women and black for men,” the Tremblays said.
