ENDICOTT — Students from All Saints School won second place for their specific problem in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Competition held in Ames, Iowa, May 23-26. Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative-problem-solving competition.

The group was one of four local teams that competed in the World Finals this year and one of more than 835 total competing teams.

The team, composed of students ages 7 to 11, tackled this question:

  • Stellar Hangout: In the outreaches of the universe, there is an Intergalactic Hangout where all sorts of creatures from different worlds stop, eat, refuel, and relax. Teams will create a humorous performance centered on this science fiction hangout that includes original creatures, foods, and a search for space treasure. There will also be a worker character, entertainment, and a futuristic map at the hangout.

Two years ago All Saints competed in the World Finals, taking 20th place. Last year, St. John School competed in the World Finals. The All Saints students ranged in age from 7-11 years old.
