This year’s St. Joseph’s Church Festival Italiano in Oswego will once again provide fun, food, and all the festivities that make it a “must attend” event.

The festival will be held at St. Joseph’s, 240 West First St., Oswego, 5 p.m.-sunset Friday, Aug. 3, and Saturday, Aug. 4. On Sunday, Aug. 5, only a chicken barbecue (noon till sold out) and the White Elephant Sale (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) will be offered.

This year’s new money raffle is creating a huge buzz. Only three hundred tickets will be sold at $50 each with first prize being $5,000. Second prize is $2,000; third, $1,000; and fourth, a gas grill (donated by Sugar Funeral Home, Inc. and Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home). There is a one in seventy-five chance that a ticket sold will win one of the four prizes.

Barbecued chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage, pizza, ziti with Italian bread, meatball subs, strawberry shortcake, pies, sno-cones, coffee, tea, beer, soda, and water complete the tasty food/drink menu.

This year’s games of chance are back by popular demand. The cake game, lottery trees, gift-basket raffles, pull tabs, and the 50/50 raffle are always crowd pleasers!! Young festival-goers will enjoy Kiddie Land’s dart game, games of chance, Plinko, Critters, and Balloon Animals.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Paul Vandish, one of Oswego’s favorite performers, on Friday evening. His well-rounded repertoire includes oldies, standards, and contemporary music. The much-appreciated Sounds of Brass and Lou’s All-Stars will entertain on Saturday evening.

The hugely popular White Elephant Sale will offer more than 1,200 square feet of jewelry, antiques, designer handbags and wallets, toys, stuffed animals, model cars, tools, Xbox 360 games, books, movies, CDs, DVDs, candles, craft supplies, auto accessories, dishes, crystal, linens, kitchenware, clocks, watches, lamps, holiday decorations, and more. The highlight of this year’s sale will be fashions by the LuLaRoe brand.

Oswego’s popular festival held (rain or shine) in the heart of downtown has been a crowd-pleaser for over a century. Don’t miss it.
