Obituary Sister Frances Ann (Ann Therese) Cimino, OSF

Sister Frances Ann Cimino, OSF,  went home to God Sept. 8, 2018, at the Franciscan Villa in Syracuse. Sister Ann was born in Herkimer to Achillle and Anna Pugliese Cimino. She was 87 years old and had been a Sister of St. Francis for 69 years.

   Her ministry was one of domestic duty, community services, and providing hostessing to visitors at the Franciscan Sisters’ Pensione in Rome, Italy. Her domestic duty found her providing services for the sisters at St. Anthony and Jolenta Convents in Syracuse and also Duns Scotus House of Studies in Washington, D.C.  In her next ministry, Sister Ann worked as a microfilm clerk at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. She later helped out at the Nun Better Chocolate Shop and as a prayer minister.

   Sister Ann will be remembered for her years of devoted service to her community and as a loyal, devoted, loving individual who warmed and touched the hearts of those who knew her.

   Sister Ann was predeceased by her parents and her brother-in-law Frank A. Mercurio. She is survived by her brother Stephen (Margarite Paolozzi) Cimino, her sister Mary Teresa Cimino-Mercurio, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and the Sisters of St. Francis.

   A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 13 at the Franciscan Villa Chapel. On Sept. 15, a Memorial Mass was said at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Utica. The Rite of  Commital and Burial took place in Calvary Cemetery, Utica.
