The 40th Family Rosary Crusade is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at St. Mary’s/Sacred Heart Church, 201 Main St., New York Mills.

The event, which is in thanksgiving to Anna Marie Piacentino, will offer the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 2:45 p.m., consecration to Jesus and Mary, enrollment into the Brown Scapular, recitation of the rosary, benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament, and crowning of the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Offered will be free rosaries and scapulars. 

The master of ceremonies will be state Sen. Joseph Griffo; guest speaker, Rev. Anthony Stephens of the Fathers of Mercy.

Following the crusade on church grounds in the school cafeteria/gym will be, at about 6 p.m., the 40th Anniversary Dinner Celebration with an Italian buffet: hors d’oeuvres, salad, tomato pie, chicken francaise, baked ziti, sausage and peppers, meatballs, roasted potatoes, baked chicken, dessert, coffee and soda, and cash bar. The Mark Bolos Band will perform.

   The healing shawl of St. Padre Pio will be available at dinner for all to be blessed. Tickets for the dinner are $35 per person. Checks can be made out to Family Rosary, PO Box 4272, Utica, N.Y., 13504.
