This weekend, April 12-14, The All Saints Church Black Catholic Task Force will host a Convocation of Catholics of African Descent at the church, located at 1340 Lancaster Ave., in Syracuse. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the presence, culture, legacy and future of Catholics of African descent in the Syracuse Diocese.

Organizers have shared this list of resources of faith with the community:

The Brady Faith Center — Located at 404 South Ave. in Syracuse, the Brady Faith Center strives to serve as an “Oasis for Peace, Hope, and Healing” in the South Side of the city. The center conducts 20 programs, including the Brady Farm, Stone Soup Educational Garden, Pedal to Possibilities, Feet on the Street, Summer Servants Immersion Retreat, a five-week Vacation Bible School and the Brady Food Market.

The Knights of Peter Claver — The Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary is an international Catholic fraternal service order. Founded in 1909 by the Josephites and parishioners from Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Mobile, Ala., it is the largest and oldest Black Catholic lay-led organization still in existence. Black Catholic Messenger — In Fall 2020, the Black Catholic Messenger was formed among a group of Black Catholic laypeople and allies who agreed that the Catholic media landscape was missing something: an online publication for Black Catholics.
