ONEIDA — Holy Cross Academy will sponsor the 16th annual Central New York Sportsman Show, to be held on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kallet Civic Center, 159 Main Street in Oneida. The show will feature more than 45 outdoor businesses and clubs from the Central New York area.

The public can meet legendary ADK trackers Jim Massett, Joe DiNitto, Steve Grabowski, and Dave Williams, along with renowned mountain hunters the Salerno Brothers. Popular New York State authors of topics ranging from hunting, fishing, cooking and hiking will be present for book signings, and wildlife artists will display work. The public can watch as chainsaw artist Beech Wayland creates sculptures. A collection of mounts from area hunters will also be on display.

Throughout the day experts will give seminars and demonstrations on hunting, fishing, cooking, and other outdoor related topics. A complete schedule can be found at www.holycrossacademy.com.

Children will be able to see hawks, owls, and falcons from Cindy Page Wildlife Center, Out of The Cage Pet Mobile, and the Utica Zoo will present live animals. Attendees will be able to fish in the trout pond.

The public is invited to bring in any deer, caribou, elk, moose, and other big game to be measured by Boone and Crockett and the N.Y. State Big Buck Club. A prize will be awarded to the largest unscored N.Y. State buck entry. There will be raffles, and free door prizes will be announced throughout the day. Refreshments will be available.

The show’s Outdoor Wall of Fame will feature outdoor photos of local sportsmen at their proudest moments. The public is welcome to send in photos to terimaciag@gmail.com. A highlight of the event will be the announcement of the winner of the CNY Sportsman of the Year award at 12 p.m.
