Happy birthday, Father Fred!
From a Submission to the The Catholic Sun
The parishioners of Most Holy Rosary Church in Syracuse recently paid tribute to their pastor, Fr. Fred Mannara, as he celebrated his 87th birthday on Tuesday, February 12! A special Happy Birthday banner was placed outside the MHR rectory so all who drove or walked by in the westside neighborhood could wish him well. One parishioner suggested that everyone should “think of this dear priest who has devoted his life in service to our Lord and as a spiritual guide to so many in and outside the MHR parish community.”
Fr. Fred was also presented with a large basket of goodies to enjoy and many cards and good wishes from his devoted parishioners. He keeps a very hectic schedule and is known for his ability to recite the Gospel from memory at every Mass.
Father Fred was ordained on May 18, 1963, has served all over the Diocese of Syracuse and was named pastor of Most Holy Rosary Church in 1998. Those who know him through “Rosary” recognize his efforts as a driving force in maintaining the parish school where he’s especially known to the young people as the breakfast chef, feeding students each day.
Happy birthday, Father Fred, and many more!
