The Archdiocese of New York has released a limited number of tickets to dioceses across the state for the Sept. 25 papal Mass at MSG. Diocesan faculty and staff gathered at Holy Cross Church in DeWitt Sept. 3 to celebrate a Mass to kick off the new school year. Bishop Robert J. Cunninham presided, joined by pastors from around the diocese. Those in attendance were welcomed by Superintendent Bill Crist and Chancellor Danielle Cummings; presentations on the system of schools’ Middle States accredidation process were delivered by Dr. Hank Cram and Jacqueline Gilbert. Pope meets Israeli president, expresses hopes for peace
As Catholics joined others in protesting Israel’s extension of its security wall, further dividing Palestinians and Israelis, Pope Francis gave Israeli President Reuven Rivlin a tangible sign of his hopes for peace.
Also, the pope got new lenses in his glasses today, causing quite a stir. Popes: they’re just like us!
