Rev. Matthew Rawson of Syracuse will become the newest priest in the Diocese of Syracuse when he is ordained at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse on Saturday, June 2, 2018. The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. It will also be live-streamed on the diocesan YouTube channel at youtube.com/syrdio.

Rawson is the son of Ralph and Donna Rawson. He graduated from Corcoran High School in 2009. Following graduation, he attended Onondaga Community College and St. John’s University. Rawson attended St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore. He served his Pastoral Year at St. Joseph’s Church in Endicott and spent the summer of 2014 at St. Peter’s Church in Rome. He was ordained a transitional deacon May 20, 2017, at St. James Church (now Our Lady of Hope) in Syracuse.

A special Holy Hour for Rawson will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church in Syracuse on Friday, June 1, at 6 p.m. The Holy Hour is open to all faithful and will include evening prayer, praise and worship music, a vocations reflection given by Father Chris Ballard, and Benediction.
