A group of 24 students and five teachers from Bishop Grimes Jr./Sr. High School in East Syracuse, Bishop Ludden Jr./Sr. High School in Syracuse, and Notre Dame Jr./Sr. High School in Utica participated in a Drone Camp sponsored by Heritage Foundation Technology Grants.
The Project Fibonacci Foundation of Rome, N.Y., coordinated and ran the camp alongside the Instructional Technology Specialist for diocesan schools, Katie Regan. Students learned about aerodynamics, airspace safety, the drone corridor near Griffiss International Airport, drone videography and photography, manual flight and autonomous(programmed) flight.
Teams earned points during the day at each station based on how well they completed the challenges.
