Bishop Douglas J. Lucia recently announced the appointment of Fr. Joseph O’Connor as Vice Rector of Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md., for a 5-year term.
Having considered the matter carefully and despite the privation his absence will be to the Diocese of Syracuse, his service to the Church in the United States, especially in the human formation of future parish priests with a shepherd’s heart, is most crucial at this time. The Diocese congratulates Fr. O’ Connor on his appointment and prays that he will continue to be a model of all that is good and holy in the ministerial priesthood.
His appointment will be effective August 1, 2025, and before that time, his replacement will be announced.
Father currently serves as the diocesan director of seminarian formation, vicar forane of Vicariate I, and pastor of three Baldwinsville parishes: St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Augustine, and St. Mary of the Assumption.
