Note: As part of the Jubilee Year, the Vatican’s Jubilee Calendar for 2025 has designated certain dates to celebrate various groups of people within our Catholic community, including those in the armed forces, artists, deacons, teenagers and people with disabilities. Without communicators, where would the world be? And where would our faith be? It’s safe to say that people have been communicating since the beginning of humanity — through art, through music, through actions, through language — even through silence. What we say and what we leave unsaid can have powerful impacts on our lives.
Perhaps that’s why the Vatican’s Jubilee Calendar 2025 begins by celebrating, from January 24-26, all those working in the world of communications. This includes professionals in journalism, newspaper management, graphic design, public relations, social media, audio and video production and IT. But in truth, every one of us plays a role as communicators in our daily lives.
Here in the Diocese of Syracuse, we are proud to offer a variety of ways to connect with our parishioners and anyone interested in deepening their Catholic faith:
Catholic TV: Livestreams Masses, shares Bishop Lucia’s holiday and holy day messages, and produces the “Catholic Conversations” podcast, available on YouTube.
Social media: Our Facebook and Instagram pages reach a wide audience, offering snapshots of Catholic life in the community. Followers can comment, share and engage with our posts.
The Catholic Sun: Established in 1892, our bi-weekly, subscription-only newspaper provides hyperlocal news and stories you won’t find anywhere else. A digital version is also available to subscribers. Non-subscribers can get a taste of the Sun by signing up to receive bi-weekly digital updates via email.
SOLIS magazine: A new partner publication of The Catholic Sun, we are now preparing for its second edition. It offers readers another tone and appeal separate from the Sun.
