Sister Mary Daniel Golembiewski, OSF, 88, went home to God at the Franciscan Villa in Syracuse on March 10, 2026.  She was born to Stanislaus and Apolonia (Celmerowska) Golembiewski in Albany. She had been a religious sister for 75 Years.

In 1950, she entered the Sisters of the Resurrection, Albany, and spent 35 years in the ministry of education, serving as teacher or principal in various Catholic schools in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. She then earned her certification in Clinical Pastoral Education.

Sister felt called to the Franciscan way of life and transferred to the Sisters of Saint Francis of the Neumann Communities, where she ministered in Syracuse at the Gingerbread House Day Care and Pre-School, St. Joseph’s Hospital, as director of The Franciscan Place at Destiny USA, at NunBetter Chocolates and Custom Gift Baskets, and lastly as a prayer minister at the Franciscan Villa.

She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Alexander, J. (Ann), John, Stanley (Noreen), Joseph (Marjorie); sisters Stella Endres-Baluch (William, Andrew), Stacia (Edward) Sesock, Ann (Emmanuel) Dedeo, Therese (Charles) Mongin, and Monica Golembiewski.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, her longtime friend and caregiver, Sister Marise May, OSF, and the Sisters of St. Francis.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Franciscan Villa Chapel in Syracuse on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
