In memoriam: Sister Mary Louise Williams, OSF

Sister Mary Louise Williams (formerly Sister Michael Kevin) went home to God on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Franciscan Villa in Syracuse, N.Y. Sister was born in Utica, NY to Robert John and Anna May Weiler Williams. She was 90 years old and had been a Sister of St. Francis for 71 years.

A major part of Sister’s ministerial life was spent educating God’s children in numerous Catholic schools mostly in New York State but also in New Brunswick, NJ and Jacksonville, Fl. Later she spent many years giving counsel, consolation and solace to patients in both Community General and St. Joseph’s hospitals in Syracuse, NY. Lastly, she was a prayer minister at the Franciscan Villa.

Sister is predeceased by her parents: father Robert John Williams (biological),step father William Blum and her mother Anna May Weiler Blum; sisters Anna May (Alex) Mazzaferro, and Barbara (Arthur) Clark; and nephew Robert W. La Platney. She is survived by her sister Carolyn (Robert) La Platney; nephews Andrew La Platney and Michael Williams; niece Victoria Mazzaferro and the Sisters of St. Francis.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Franciscan Villa Chapel on September 5. Interment followed in Assumption Cemetery.
