Today was our last full day on pilgrimage in Ireland. In just a few hours, we’ll be heading to Shannon and boarding our plane home. But we made the most of our last day, celebrating Mass at a local church, then taking a walking tour of Galway, followed by a visit to the Cliffs of Moher.
Our walking tour began at the Cathedral of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven and St. Nicholas (aka the Galway Cathedral). Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Galway Cathedral is home to some remarkable stained glass and mosaics. We pilgrims could have spent the whole day there.
And a little rain couldn’t keep us all from walking/climbing/slipping around the Cliffs of Moher. Seven hundred feet tall and five miles long, the Cliffs form the jagged edge of County Clare. The endless vista, the crashing waves, the relentless Atlantic wind — standing at the edge of the world was pure exhilaration.
