Reverend Monsignor James P. Lang will retire as the Episcopal Vicar for Parishes, effective
August 1, 2025. Sincere gratitude is extended to Msgr. Lang for his tireless efforts in parish
planning and the direction he has helped to form for the Diocesan Church.
Most Reverend Douglas J. Lucia will become Pastor of St. Augustine Church, Baldwinsville,
New York; St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Baldwinsville, New York; and St. Mary of the
Assumption Church, Baldwinsville, New York. Father Benjamin Schrantz will remain the
Parochial Vicar and Father Thomas Ryan (retired) will offer sacramental assistance. This
appointment is effective August 1, 2025.
Reverend Richard P. Prior, Jr. has been appointed Diocesan Director of Seminarian Formation.
This appointment is in addition to his current assignment as Pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows
Church, Vestal, New York, and Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Endicott, New York. This
appointment is effective August 1, 2025.
Reverend Joseph E. Scardella has been appointed Vicar Forane for Vicariate 1, which includes
Oswego County and Northwest Onondaga County. This is in addition to his current assignment
as Pastor of Holy Trinity Church, Fulton, New York and St. Stephen Church, Phoenix, New
York. This appointment is effective August 1, 2025.
