An annual gathering of local Christian leaders was held May 2 outside the Onondaga County Courthouse for National Day of Prayer, each offering up intentions to the Lord for numerous community needs.

Bishop Douglas J. Lucia, one of eight guests invited to speak, offered a prayer for the people of central New York, with a focus on Romans 12:16 and 18: “Have the same regard for everyone, do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not be wise in your own estimation … Live at peace with all.”

Light of the World Ballet members began the hour of prayer with dance. Between speakers were songs of worship and praise sung by Mission Syracuse founder Joe Bolognone.

Christians for Syracuse, a central New York evangelical organization, planned the event.
