February is Catholic Press Month

We in the Diocese of Syracuse are spoiled … in all the best ways, I promise!
Aside from being blessed with a devoted and joyful bishop and dedicated priests and religious throughout all seven counties, we are also incredibly rich in Catholic media. We have all we could ask for at our fingertips: a biweekly newspaper, a diocesan magazine, a weekly podcast, and Catholic TV. And let us not forget regular social media posts on Facebook and Instagram, as well as two active, up-to-date websites.
The Catholic Sun is the diocese’s one and only official newspaper, circulating continuously since 1892 — that’s 134 years of sharing the Good News. According to the USCCB, there are 196 dioceses in the United States, and The Catholic Sun is one of 78 diocesan newspapers still publishing. Gratefully, Bishop Lucia understands the value of staying in direct touch with his flock! Support and subscribe by visiting thecatholicsun.com. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram, too!
And how fortunate are we to have both a newspaper and a magazine?
SOLIS, the diocese’s biannual magazine, debuted in fall 2024 as another communication tool to support our evangelistic mission. Know your faith. Live your faith. Share your faith. That’s what SOLIS brings to more than 20,000 households. Current recipients include Hope Appeal contributors and The Catholic Sun subscribers.
Our latest endeavor, Catholic Conversations, is the diocese’s official podcast, kicking off in January 2025. Host Joelle Zarnowski interviews clergy, lay leaders, and Catholic community members to share insights on a range of topics from Church teachings and spirituality to local ministries and diocesan events. These weekly episodes are meant to engage, inspire, and deepen viewers’ faith. Subscribe via Spotify, Apple Podcasts and the Diocese of Syracuse YouTube Channel.
Syracuse Catholic TV is another of our ministries that provides news and entertainment to the people of the Diocese of Syracuse and beyond. Because of it, people can stream live and recorded Masses and watch Bishop Lucia’s special messages. You can follow on YouTube (@/syrdio).
All of these evangelizing tools are part of the Syracuse Diocese Communications team and are partially funded by the HOPE Appeal (with SOLIS made possible through the McDevitt Grant). One faith. One voice. Connected.
Thank you to everyone who supports our ministries. By doing so, you’re also part of the evangelizing mission that continues to spread the Word. Let’s keep it going strong — because Jesus isn’t a trend. He’s eternal.
