A sacred choral reading session (Advent and Christmas music) will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Church of Our Lady of Pompei–St. Peter, 301 Ash St., Syracuse. It is sponsored by the Diocese of Syracuse.
A choral reading allows a group of musicians to get together and sing through newly published pieces, testing what they might want to use with their own choir.
Armand Di Scenna will be presenting the free session for the diocese, open to all organists, choir directors, and music directors.
They will be previewing some timeless music for Advent and Christmas, suitable for any groups they may have on hand — from one soloist and congregation, to SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) choir. There will also be some beautiful and suitable public-domain music on hand.
Please RSVP by Monday, Sept. 10, to discenaj@gmail.com (subject line: Advent / Christmas Choral Reading Session).
