The parishioners of St. John’s warmly welcomed Bishop Douglas J. Lucia on Sunday Morning, Aug. 17. It was Bishop Lucia’s first trip to Camden and he celebrated Mass along with Father John F. Hogan Jr., pastor of the parish. After the 9 a.m. service, all were invited to a full-course brunch at the parish center. The beautiful summer weather provided a perfect opportunity for Father Hogan to offer a nice tour of the area for Bishop. They traveled to St. Mary of Mount Carmel Oratory in Florence and walked its historic cemetery, visiting the graves of many priests buried there. They also visited St. John’s Cemetery on Harden Boulevard in Camden. The special day even included a surprise visit by Evelyn Hogan of Oswego, Father Hogan’s mom.
