FAYETTEVILLE — Students at Immaculate Conception School celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday in several ways. A special student assembly was held Nov. 16, featuring the sixth grade students under the musical direction of Cheryl Ripley. The students, using the letters of the alphabet, gave reasons to the student body why they were thankful this year.

As part of their Light the Way Leaders projects, the sixth grade students also met with each class in the school and read stories about Thanksgiving. Following the stories, students were given a paper feather and wrote what they were thankful for on one side. The feathers were later collected and put together to create a festive holiday decoration.

In preparation for Thanksgiving, students spent the month collecting toiletries to be distributed to those in need at St. Lucy’s Parish. Donna Carr, a parishioner of St. Lucy’s, came to speak to the students and thank them for their generous donations. Students also collected canned goods that were donated to two food pantries.
