In Everything, Give Thanks
The Samaritan Center main dining area is housed in the former St. John the Evangelist Church on the Northside of Syracuse. Like many similar organizations in our diocese, volunteers there feed the hungry and help the less fortunate in many ways. In the words of Executive Director Mary Beth Frye, “We are honored to stand beside them in good days and bad; to let them know they are not alone.” Next week’s Catholic Sun’s cover story is devoted to this organization, and we’ll also have a story on a remarkable Broome County food pantry and more as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving.
IC Fayetteville students visit museum, Cathedral
Mrs. Janet Kirkgasser’s fourth grade class from Immaculate Conception School in Fayetteville made the noon Mass at our diocesan Cathedral one stop on their recent field trip. The students also visited the Saint Marianne Cope Shrine and Museum before coming to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for Mass and a tour.
Gabby gets “showered” with love
If you’ve been following the “Gabby and John are getting married” series, you won’t want to miss this installment. We’ll celebrate wedding showers and great memories of people and places in the life of the bride-to-be as the happy day draws closer!
All Saints Day celebrations
The saints were marching in all around the Diocese of Syracuse on All Hallows Eve and All Saints Day. Lucky for us, two parishes sent us photos of their events…click the link below to read the story!
And don’t forget to send us photos of your parish events — we’ll use them on Facebook, Instagram, our web page, The Catholic Sun print edition and in upcoming digital offerings. Share the good news of your parish and school…email your stories and photos to email@example.com.
