Six parishes come together to celebrate youth and faith
By Dc. Tom Cuskey, editor
Last week the six parishes comprising the Liverpool and Baldwinsville areas came together to host Totus Tuus, the “Catholic summer youth program dedicated to sharing the Gospel and promoting the Catholic faith through catechesis, evangelization, Christian witness and Eucharistic worship,” as their website states.
Obviously, they forgot to mention food and fun.
That’s where the parishes provided a great evening featuring dinner, dessert and activities, led by the Seton Servers team at host parish St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Seton Servers is a group of dedicated hospitality volunteers.
A team of four Totus Tuus missionaries – Bridget Burr (St. Paul, MN), Cecilia D’Alberto (Cicero, NY), Daniel DeMoor (Boerne, TX), and Joey Gill (Endicott, NY) – spent the week working with elementary kids during the day program and middle and high school students during the evening. The message as described above is also focused on sharing the Good News of God’s love for them.
Wednesday evening’s gathering was large – all the tables in the spacious Seton gym were full – and the food and fellowship were superb.
The Catholic Sun will feature the unsung heroes of Seton Servers, a hospitality ministry born out of funeral ministry for the parish, in a later edition. For now enjoy the photo gallery.
