War and violence rage on throughout our world as cries for help ring out in different languages. Fortunately, the armies of peace are waging battle to bring an end to the fighting. A gathering this Sunday at a Syracuse parish will do so with multilingual prayer offerings.

Diocesan Deaf Ministry assists at liturgies and events throughout the diocese, year-round. This 2023 photo is from the ministry’s annual Palm Sunday Vigil Mass at Christ the King Retreat House.
A Vigil for Peace will be held at St. Charles-St. Ann Church on Syracuse’s west side this Sunday, February 11th at 2:00pm.
The rosary will be prayed in six different languages, each representing a native tongue where war or oppression are currently being waged. American Sign Language (ASL) will be part of the interpretation courtesy of the diocesan Deaf Apostolate.
The rosary, readings from scripture and hymns for peace will be shared. Also, prayers and reflections from various peacemakers will be presented, along with music by the Solvay High School choir under the direction of Nick Godzak.
The vigil is open to all faiths and families with children are encouraged to attend.
St. Charles-St. Ann is located at 501 S. Orchard Rd. in Syracuse (13219).
