The event’s theme, “Riding the Winds of Change,” began with a welcome, prayer and opening remarks by Joseph Slavik, CEO/President of Catholic Charities Diocese of Syracuse, and featured keynote speaker Bob Blenn of Inspiring Human Potential.
Blenn’s address, “Professional Agility: Adapting with Flexibility in an Ever-Changing World,” proved both fitting and well-received by staff. He was followed by a day of workshops which included safety training by William Paton of the Office of Mental Health; family cultural identities by Lenora Reid-Rose, MBA, Director of Cultural and Linguistic Competence; emotional intelligence by Jesan Sorrells of Human Services Consulting and Training; trauma informed care by William S. De Joy, LCSW-R, Clinical Director of Conifer Park Rehabilitation Center; effective partnering: families and providers by Cathy Munson, Joan Godlewski and Jean Austin; and “Reclaiming Your Mojo” by Blenn.
The day ended with a closing session led by Blenn, comments and prize drawings by Slavik, and prayer led by Syracuse Bishop Robert J. Cunningham.
The event will be held again in 2017.
