The New Year will usher in some staff changes at The Catholic Sun.
Deacon Tom Cuskey, editor-in-chief since October 2021, will step down from a full-time role effective January 1, 2025. He will remain a part-time advisor through June 2025 to assist Tami Scott who will assume the position of editor-in-chief. The present associate editor joined the Sun staff in April 2024.
Elizabeth Landry has recently joined the team as a staff writer, joining Eileen Jevis in that role.
Deacon Cuskey was ordained in 2010 and brought more than 30 years of community publishing experience to his editor role. He also previously served as chair of the Catholic Sun board of directors. He will be looking forward to part-time service in chaplaincy and continued work in his assignment at the linked parishes of Christ the King and Pope John XXIII in Liverpool.
Scott brings experience as editor of the former Scotsman Community Publications and as editor of Eagle Newspapers’ Eagle Bulletin and Baldwinsville Messenger. She is an award-winning writer with extensive freelance experience. She is a member of St. Augustine Church in Baldwinsville.
Landry is a former content operations manager for Impel and freelance writer for CNY Publications. An alumna of Bishop Grimes and SUNY Geneseo, she worships at St. Matthews Church in East Syracuse.
