Syracuse Bishop Robert J. Cunningham released the following statement Oct. 28, after a gunman killed 11 people in a Pittsburgh synagogue the day before.

“We join with our Jewish brothers and sisters in praying for those who have lost their lives due to the senseless killing among the Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh. It is shocking that our country continues to tolerate these gun-related massacres. It is time for all of us to join together and open our hearts and minds to the differences among us and to demand nothing less than respect and peace among us all. May God send healing grace to those families affected by this terrible tragedy which never should have been allowed to take place.”
