The student musicians at Bishop Grimes Jr./Sr. High School in East Syracuse have new, dedicated space on campus. The former convent attached to the main building has been reimagined as practice and instructional space for students in General Music 7 & 8, Foundations of Musical Theatre, Music Theory, Beginner Band, Symphonic Band, Jr. High Chorus, and Senior High Chorus.

The Sun stopped by the PAC during a recent rehearsal, where Jason Kammerer, band & instrumental and theatre instructor, said both he and the students are very happy in the new space, which has brought all the performing arts together under one roof.

Grimes will present performances in the coming weeks: Actors will take the stage for “An Evening of One Acts” Friday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m., and the first concert of the year will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m.

Here, a look inside the new space and at some talented musicians at work.
