Father Andrew E. Baranski

Father Andrew E. Baranski,

rector of the Basilica

of the Sacred Heart

of Jesus in Syracuse,

ordained in June 1992

Father Baranski has served in Baldwinsville, Utica, Phoenix, Jamesville, Oswego, and Syracuse. Diocesan stints include director of vocation promotion in 2005 and assistant chancellor from 2002 to 2005.

Father Baranski said this in an email:

“The occasion of celebrating my 25 years of Priestly ministry brings to my heart so many memories and reflections. It is by God’s grace and the prayers of so many wonderful people to which God has sent me, with whom I was privileged to work, that I am who I am as a priest today. I was privileged to serve at Holy Trinity and Our Lady of Lourdes in Utica, at St. Mary’s in Baldwinsville, at St. Stephen’s in Phoenix, at St. Stephen’s and St. Joseph’s in Oswego, and now at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Syracuse. For six years of my priesthood, as I worked in the Chancery as the secretary for the late Bishop Moynihan and as the Assistant Chancellor for the Diocese I was able to get to know the priests and parishes across the Diocese of Syracuse.

“These have been good years, years of giving and receiving. It has been a humbling experience to be able lead the People of God in worship, in the Celebration of the Eucharist, the Sacraments or simply being with them in times of joy as well as in times of need and sorrow. I was able to help them as I was helped by others.

“My wish as I celebrate the Silver Jubilee of my ordination is to express my gratitude to all that the Lord put in my path for their prayers, friendship and support.”
