  Bishop Robert J. Cunningham and hundreds of members of the Divine Mercy community attended the groundbreaking for the new church in Central Square.

  Pope Francis released his apostolic exhortation “Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love), on Love in the Family.” Bishop Robert J. Cunningham said the document “gives us much to think about in the Diocese of Syracuse as we support family life ministry.”

  St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church in Utica celebrated its 175th anniversary.

  Ground was broken for the Riverview Project in Cortland. The 39-unit apartment complex will house a diverse population of people with low to middle incomes.

  Seton Catholic Central hosted a Relay for Life, a fundraiser sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

  Deanne Hall, director of faith formation at St. Mary’s in Oswego, was named the recipient of the 2016 New Wineskins Award from the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership.

  Six deacons were ordained by Bishop Robert J. Cunningham at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. One deacon was ordained in a separate ceremony at St. Louis Gonzaga Maronite Catholic Church in Utica.

  Thanks to a wish from student Jack Sheridan, an improved and expanded baseball field was unveiled at Christian Brothers Academy. The school and Make-A-Wish Central New York partnered on the project.
