Recently the Angel Tree of Hope program, established by the Catholic Community of Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph’s and St. Stephen’s in Oswego, donated items to Morningstar Residential Care Center.

Morningstar received many items: blankets, robes, slippers, lotion, stuffed animals, crossword puzzles, coloring books, markers, arts and crafts, decorations, and much, much more.

The Angel Tree of Hope program aids local families and community members that are in need. The program donates items of necessity to care for individuals’ physical and emotional needs by setting up Christmas trees year-round with tags of needed items at the worship sites of both St. Joseph’s and St. Stephen’s churches. The program collects and delivers items bimonthly throughout the year to specific community members.

In 2018, the program aided the homeless of Oswego County by donating items to Oswego County Opportunities for distribution. Also helped were young pregnant mothers in conjunction with Joseph’s House in Syracuse; the children of the Oswego City School District with summer fun activities; and the senior citizens of Morningstar Residential Care Center.

In December, the Angel Tree of Hope program will be serving children of the Oswego City School District. All in the Oswego community are invited to select a tag from the Christmas trees beginning Dec. 1. Please purchase items on the tags and return no later than Dec. 20. St. Stephen’s Church is located at 138 Niagara St.; St. Joseph’s, 240 West 1st St.

Thank you in advance for spreading hope in the community.
