Parishes and schools in the Diocese of Syracuse participated in a long papal tradition this Advent season: the Blessing of the Bambinelli.
On the Third Sunday of Advent, the children of Rome bring the Christ Child — the Bambinelli — from their family mangers to St. Peter’s Square for the Holy Father to bless at the time of his Sunday Angelus.
