Catholic Charities of Broome County will hold its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive at the Town Square Plaza Walmart in Vestal from Sunday, Nov. 13 to Friday, Nov. 18, 2016. The drive is part of Harvest For Hunger, a program of Catholic Charities that collects food and dollars to fight hunger during the holiday season. Catholic Charities invites individuals and community groups to join in the effort by donating turkeys, non-perishable food, and dollars.

Radio personalities from I Heart Media will be at a motor home parked in the parking lot outside of Walmart from Nov.13 at noon until Nov. 18 at
8 p.m. Donations of frozen turkeys can be brought to the Walmart location, where they will be accepted and placed in a freezer truck donated by Willow Run Foods of Vestal. There will be barrels for donations of non-perishable food items. Monetary donations will also be accepted at the motor home site and will be used to provide Thanksgiving and holiday meals for those in need.

The goal is to collect 3,800 turkeys. Needed non-perishable food items (preferably boxed and/or canned; no glass containers) include stuffing mixes, canned vegetables and fruit, juices, boxed mashed potatoes, coffee, Jell-o and pudding mixes, brownie mixes, and cereal. Donations will remain in Broome County to address the local hunger problem during the holiday season.

Donations for the drive can also be made by sending a check to Harvest For Hunger/Turkey Drive to Catholic Charities of Broome County, payable to Catholic Charities BC. Phone donations may be made by credit card by calling (607) 729-9166. Online donation may be made at www.catholiccharitiesbc.org.
